NOMINAL

The dimensions customarily used when referring to a particular size of material, such as timber, which may differ from the actual finished size.


NON -FLAMMABLE

Not easily ignited, or if ignited, not able to burn rapidly.


NON-BEARING WALL

A wall supporting no load other than its own weight; a partition.


NON-COMBUSTIBLE

In building construction a material of which no part will ignite when subjected to fire; a building material which meets statutory requirements for ignition and flame spread in applications calling for such materials.


NON-POROUS

A material that does not absorb, nor is it easily penetrated by liquids, especially water. Generally, non-porous materials have a permeance factor of less than one. cp _porous_


NOTICE OF LOSS

The official communication from the insured to the insurance company notifying them of a loss that may be covered by the provisions of the insured_s policy.
