The Damage Management practitioner meets fresh challenges daily, each bringing its unique combination of technical problems and customer requirements. To be able to make valid decisions in these different circumstances the technician must be widely knowledgeable.
In order to reach the required standards which will enable practitioners to sit the BDMA Technician or Senior Technician Examination they should study the BDMA Official Damage Management Training & Reference Manual, together with the information identified in the BDMA Examination Syllabus.
All practitioners aiming to gain accreditation are advised to attend the official BDMA Core Damage Management Training Course (Level 1 and/or Level 2), which are only available via BDMA Official Licensed Training Centres (LTCs). Additional courses to support learning activity are identified throughout the syllabus.
The syllabus is not intended to list everything the technician needs to know, but includes what we judge to be the most important knowledge areas practitioners will require in order to sit the examination. However, it is not suggested learning should be confined to what is covered here. The syllabus should be used as a guide to the minimum level of knowledge required to become competent in the core damage management disciplines and achieve professional accreditation.
We hope that studying in line with the syllabus will provide the core knowledge that will increase technicians’ abilities, improve their job satisfaction and enable them to gain accreditation, recognition and respect as damage management professionals.
