NAMED INSURED

The individual or parties insured, signified by the inclusion of their names on the policy.


NATURAL FIBRE

A fibre derived from plants or animals.


NATURAL LAW

A law or body of laws that derives from nature and is believed to be binding upon human actions apart from or in conjunction with laws established by human authority.


NATURAL VENTILATION

Air movement through a structure caused by wind, temperature difference (convection currents), or other non-mechanical factors.


NEGATIVE AIR MACHINE

A fan or blower which creates a condition of negative pressure by exhausting air to the outside while drawing air from other parts of the building; often coupled with HEPA or carbon filters to capture particulates or odours.


NEGATIVE PRESSURE

A condition of lower air pressure than the surrounding areas, causing air to flow towards the area of negative pressure. Usually induced to limit the spread of dust or contaminants.


NEPHROTOXIN

A substance that causes injury to the kidneys.


NEUROTOXIN

A material that affects the body_s ability to transmit nerve impulses to control body response functions.


NEUTRAL

A chemical state that is neither acid or alkali; seven in pH (e.g., distilled water).


NEUTRALISE

To eliminate potential hazards by inactivating strong acids, caustics and oxidizers. For example, acid spills can be neutralized by adding an appropriate amount of caustic substance to the spill.
